Hi SFX Alumni,

Our Fund Raising for Bro. Gregory (Marist Schools) in Kenya has been a bit slow and worrisome, at about half the pace of last year. In order not to disappoint our adopted students we pledge to help, we earnestly ask every SFX Old Boy to donate to achieve our goal of 140 scholarships of US$200 each. We can easily succeed if each of us donate just a small amount. Last year we had exceeded our goal!

The needs and hardships of missions are real - Bro. Gregory's recent email exposed 2 inconvenient truths. 1) He was knocked out of internet communication for a long period because his computer crashed and there was no professional help anywhere nearby. 2) Their students had to do fix-up and maintenance work on their classrooms before the new school year could start.

Please read all about our Campaign on our web page:

Let's not forget the alternatives for those young students not going to the Marist schools will be a life of manual labor in the fields, the markets or on the streets - a life of Great Expectations snuffed out ab ovo!

Please help generously!

Hi SFX Alumni,

A belated Chinese New Year Greetings - 馬年賀歲, 恭賀新禧 祝你和家人馬年事事如意,身壯力健,財源滾滾來!

On behalf of the SFX Alumni officers and  members, USA Chapter, we are glad to report that we had a very successful  Chinese New Year SFX alumni luncheon on Jan 25 in Milpitas, CA. It was great to catch up with many old friends.

Some Statistics:

-  58 guests attended, including 41 alumni from all 3 campuses - Shanghai 1, Kowloon 31  and Tsuen Wan 9.

- Years of graduation ranged from 1953 to 2007;  a  healthy  span of  54 years!

- The honor of having the  presence of our Classical Chinese teacher in the Kowloon campus - Chan Sir 陳維良老師, Mrs. Chan and his son Desmond

- The honor of having the  presence of Father Matthew Koo (S-1953)

- 14 very supporting wives who  helped make our party flow seamlessly  (What are we going to do without the ladies!!!???)

The food was great and most importantly, everyone had fun! It is always  exciting to reconnect with old  classmates  and meet new friends  who share a common root.

Also thanks to Peter Tam (K-69), Donald Chan (K-67), Kenny Lau (K-67) and Bosco Ho (K-66) for taking plenty of good pictures, you can now see the faces of many class/schoolmates you have not seen for years by visiting our website:

In the group photos each participant is identified by his English and Chinese name, Campus and Year!

Our next big event will be our Summer BBQ Picnic. The venue will be held in a nice park  in Foster City. I hope  some of you can join us if you are heading this way.

Venue:  Boothbay Park, Foster City, CA

                             Date:    Saturday, June 14, 2014

                             Time:    11:00 to 16:00

Thank you for the tremendous support of the SFX alumni community. We look forward to seeing more happy SFX alumni faces in the future.
